Halloween costume - Ness from Earthbound - thrifted and spray painted
source, source
This year, B decided to go as Ness from the 1995 video game Earthbound.
B giving you some Ness realness here
B had the red cap from his Super Mario costume a few years earlier. He reused it and spray painted the front of it dark blue.
I did all the shopping for his costume at our local thrift store and got this yellow t-shirt for $1.99. B added masking tape to it and spray painted on some blue stripes.
The shoes were around $5 and the mini backpack was around $3 dollars.
B spray painted the back pack yellow...
And the shoes red. I love how the shoes came out. They were very cartoonish looking with the glossy red spray paint.
For the bat, B used a 3/4 inch dowel from our garage and I got some pipe foam insulation at the hardware store ($1.99 if you get the kind that already has tape along the split opening - recommend!). B cut two pieces off and taped it to the dowel, then wrapped the whole thing with light yellow masking tape.
I was so surprised at how many options for dress up there were at the thrift shop. There was a whole corner just with crazy and not so crazy outfit. A great way to save on a one-time-wear outfit!

Happy Halloween!
