Dare to deck the halls: my Christmas mantel - snowflake garland
This year I was in the mood or an all white mantel. Last year, I made a hand felted garland which was multi colored. This year, I put that garland on my tree. Instead I then made this paper snow flake garland for my mantel.
This oversized snowflake punch is a new purchase this year and I am coming back later with another craft where I am using it as well.
I used fish line to string the snowflakes.
I punched a hole in each flake.
Then strung and hung them.
They look so delicate from the fish line because it is barely visible.
For the mantle I bought these two matte white ceramic houses at Crate & Barrel.
I also bought those white wooden nut cracker ornaments. The white card stock trees in branch holders I made a while ago - also for the Dare to DIY series.
I used my miniature Christmas trees from IKEA last year and outfitted them with feather boa garlands. On the mirror, I hung a feather wreath that I got 50% off at West Elm last year after Christmas.
And there you have it. My Christmas mantel 2013.
Last year, I also showed my mantel decorations for the Dare to DIY challenge. You can see it here:

Our fireplace is a DIY project. Read about it here: Living room remodel - the entertainment center
I used some of my DIY clay mushrooms on my mantel last year.

And before you leave, I just wanted to mention that I will be back Wednesday with a collaboration of jingle bell ornaments.
With the ladies from these fabulous blogs, we posed this challenge to ourselves: Make a Christmas ornament using jingle bells. We are calling it a Jingle Mingle and we will show the ornaments that came out of that on Wednesday. I can't wait to see what the others made and to show you mine!
See you Wednesday!
