I don't feel great about handing out candy at Halloween that I wouldn't even eat myself. I have done it, but it doesn't feel great to me.

Here are 5 reasons that I don't like most of the super marked candy:

1) Artificial Colors, Flavors, and Sweeteners.

2) Partially Hydrogenated Oils or Trans Fats.

3) High Fructose Corn Syrup (HFCs)/Sugar in excessive amounts.

4) Genetically Modified or Genetically Engineered Foods.

5) Butylated hydroxyanisole (BHA), Butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT), Tertiary butylhydroquinone (TBHQ).

Yum!

So how about some freshly popped, organic pop corn? While I wouldn't exactly call it a health food because even though it is organic, you can never really tell with corn but it is on the food list of "allergens". Here is my rule of thumb: trade up. If it's between the popcorn and a fresh organic apple, go with the apple. If it's between a piece of Hershey's chocolate (and I use the term chocolate very loosely here) and freshly popped organic corn with Pink Himalayan salt (contains 80+ minerals), go with the popcorn ;).

Do you trade up like that?

Pop some corn. If you are getting a lot of unpopped corn in the bottom of your pot, it is probably due to using too little oil. I recommend using grapeseed oil and I would stay away from any vegetable oils like cotton seed or rapeseed oil aka canola oil.

Then gather the supplies.

I used an orange ink pad and letter stamps.
Scalloped tags from Staples
4x6 inch Clear bags with close-flaps
Googly eyes. Get the ones that already have glue on the back.
Polka dot washi tape
Stapler and zig zag scissors (not shown)

I stamped my tags. Boo!

Filled the baggies with popcorn - make sure they have cooled to avoid condensation in the bags.
My popcorn is way cool :)

Cut a piece of Washi tape with your zig zag scissors.

Stick it to the top right of the baggie. Fold over.

Staple and add two googly eyes.

Pocket popcorn ghosts halloween trick or treat

I made these for our Homeschooling Halloween party last week. They were a big hit. I made a large bowl of popcorn as well and I noticed a lot of the kids weren't really going for the popcorn at first, until they had a bit to taste. Then they kept coming back for more.

There is just no comparison between freshly popped organic corn and something you pour out of a bag from the super market. No comparison.
